Rudolph Dinvaut, Second Ward High School

Rudolph G. Dinvaut   Rudolph “Prof” Dinvaut was a native of Edgard, Louisiana. In 1950, he graduated from Snow Hill Academy High School, and was a member of Southern University football team from 1951-1954. Dinvaut graduated from Southern University in 1954.   In 1956, he began his coaching career in football at Second Ward High School. He is credited with a record of two hundred wins, forty- two loses and four ties which resulted in fifteen District Championships, three Bi-District Championships, five Regional Championships, two State runner-up Championships, and two State Championships. From 1970 to 1978, an eight-year period, he won ninety games and lost only ten. During the years of 1971 and 1972, he led his team to twenty-nine consecutive victories.  In addition to his prestigious football coaching career he also led the 1973 Basketball team to the Top 20 Championship Tournament. He had one State Championship and one State Runner-up Championship in Track and Field.  In 1972, 75, 76, 77, and 78, he was voted District Coach of the year. He was the Head Coach of the State All-Star Team in 1971 and 1972. In 1975 he was named Southern University Quarterback Coach of the year. In 1998 he was inducted into the Southern University Sports Hall of Fame. Dinvaut ended his coaching career in 1984. He retired as an Administator in 1987.
