Harry O. “Doc” Gilbeaux

Harry Gilbeaux was born in Lake Arthur, Louisiana.

          He was a graduate of Jefferson Davis Training School, Southern University A&M College, and Colorado State University.  He obtained additional schooling from Texas Southern University and McNesse State University to advance his career.

     Mr. Gilbeaux was a dedicated teacher for 33 years of service with the Jefferson Davis Parish School Board. He was employed at Jeff Davis High School and Jennings High School as an Industrial Arts teacher.  He was affectionately referred to by his students as “Doc”.  One of his proudest moments is winning the 1970 LIALO Class “A” State Championship with a team of talented, motivated, and energetic team of young men and a supportive community.  After retirement, he returned to the school system where he served as a member of the Jefferson Davis Parish School Board.  He and his brothers formed Gilbeaux Brothers Construction Company.

     He was also a proud member of the United States Army serving in Korea.  He participated in many organizations: Southern University Alumni-Jeff Davis Branch and Lifetime Membership; American Legion Post; Mt. Olive Lodge #202 A.F. & A.M.; Esther Chapter #152 Order of Eastern Star and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.
